GiantVision
- 英语是世界上信息交流的主要媒介语言;
- 本站的起点和终点都不是为了服务单一群体,而是拥抱世界的交流;
- 也在无形中督促本人持续不断地学习和使用英语这门语言;
GiantVision
What is GiantVision?
GiantVision originally meant grand and spectacular, but here it means to see everything from a more distant and elevated perspective. This blog has a motto: Why not stand on the shoulders of giants? This is adapted from a 1675 letter by Isaac Newton: “If I see further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” The point this blog is trying to make with this is very clear: to improve your abilities you need to stand on the shoulders of giants. Finding giants is thus a process that needs to be practiced by individuals, and I scoff at technical ideas that emphasise self-reliance and not asking for everything. Look for giants, then stand on their shoulders and look at the world.
I do not seek perfection in my writing, because the price of perfection is extremely high: excessive time and effort but little gain; but it does not mean that the articles on this site are shoddy, the pursuit of writing articles on this site is: simple and precise, simple and natural. Often the pursuit of perfection can lead to overthinking, delaying or hesitating in writing, and this is something we make sure to avoid. Sometimes we try to be casual in our writing, not looking for the flashy and insubstantial.
Positioning
This site is positioned as a small site for me to learn and share technology as a programmer, focusing on my experience and thoughts on technology learning and practice in the process of professional growth, focusing more on the technical footing, but also some of my other thoughts. I read widely and am keen on independent thinking, so the thoughts in the essays may be whimsical and wild, but I personally think this is more important as it will show a more comprehensive part of an individual, rather than the tip of the iceberg on the surface of the sea.
Why did I choose a blog site as a format to share?
I have tried a variety of content distribution platforms, but ultimately feel that the sharing method of these platforms is very limited and not conducive to the precipitation and dissemination of their own content, and these platforms have abandoned the initial subscription method in favour of information flow distribution, which is extremely detrimental to low-frequency, high-quality articles. The distribution of content in streams has certainly contributed to the proliferation of traffic-driven articles, which is not conducive to the sharing and dissemination of valuable content. In contrast, blogs are more targeted and exclusive, not subject to realistic norms and platform rules, which reduces risks and gives a more personal touch to the content.
May the content of this site inspire you.
Objectives
For programmers, technology is a fundamental need to continue to pursue, polish and refine. How to continuously improve personal skills has become the most essential and direct problem that a programmer needs to face, and the thinking and practice of this problem is a programmer’s road to progress, which is also the proposition that this site and I need to answer and practice to argue.
The goal of this site is to give readers a compass + map tool that they can refer to for learning, practicing techniques, and improving their cognition through my sharing, so that together we can search for giants, find our own goals and directions with the vision of giants, improve our cognitive abilities, and answer the call of our destiny.
The content of the articles on this site will be written in both Simplified Chinese and English, and the reasons for this are:
- English is the main language of communication in the world;
- This site is not about serving a single language group, it’s about embracing the world;
- I am urged to learn and use English as a language on an ongoing basis;
Communication is the only way for human beings to cooperate and collaborate and for individuals to learn and improve. Let valuable information flow freely in communication and tomorrow will be better.
A big vision, but one step at a time, so let’s get started!
